Continuing our relationship with GM Financial, we were tasked with finding a way to increase the amount of workspaces and most importantly, to introduce ways for the staff to become more collaborative in their Cardiff office as the existing design was limited to just desk space and a handful of meeting rooms on one side of the building.

We began by space planning their existing offices to explore ideas in how we could get the most out their space and the logistics involved to do so.

To create the extra space required, 360 desks and their accompanying power and data were moved during out of hours, meaning there was no disruption to the work force and its operations, while the IT set up was also restructured to enable the relocation of desking.

Additional bench desking was then brought in to increase the capacity while the latest designs in office furniture were specified to enable the staff to collaborate together away from their desks. A range of Haven pods enabled teams to have quick informal meetings while bespoke cell pods gave the option for larger meetings and presentations in private.

Bespoke storage walls blended in to the office while also acting as dividers between areas in this huge open plan office.

The overall effect was a modernisation of the office, which is now far better equipped to deal with the current day physical and technical demands of the working environment.
